Need advice
I would just use a pipe cutter and trim the amount and a dremel tool to cut the notch and remove the ring I just cut. Leave the wires in bars and Wrap the wires in tape to protect them. Get the new bars and sell them to recoup some of your hassle.
I could and thats probably not that hard to do but then my bars will be uneven.no one would really notice but i would know and I'm kinda ****.
They want the old bars back.
I would think the installer would have noticed this before he finished up the job.
He could have test fit them, and found the problem early on...
When I did my bars, the first thing I did was test fit them before doing any of the final wiring.
I think part of this should be the responsibility of the installer, he should have caught this
early on during the install and called you about it before he kept working on them.

seems like your installer , being the expert should have noticed something was wrong but you bought them direct to save some money and the parts markup is what the dealer gets to help cover this kind of stuff which your installer did not get so I think there is enough blame to go around , but seems like he could help out to , good luck , keep us posted
