I picked up my Ultra Classic from winter storage at the dealer about 3 weeks ago. When I arrived home, I noticed rust colored dust all over the back of the saddlebags and rear fender, which I thought was strange. When I looked closer, I noticed a ton of rust inside of the slip ons and covering the billet end caps, which wouldn't come off after trying to clean (RC Components w/Gatlin Eclipse caps). The dealer installed these when I bought the bike last September. The screws holding the end caps in were also rusted over and the chrome was pitting around the screws because of all rust.
Today I brought it in to the dealer (Woodstock, IL HD) to show them what was happening. After looking at the slip ons for about a minute, they didn't think all the rust was normal (yes, some rust inside the muffler is normal) and it shouldn't have been damaging the chrome. After about 5 minutes with the parts manager, they offered to replace them on the spot and that they'd deal with RC after the fact. I showed up at the dealer at 1:30pm and was out the door with new slip ons at 2:30pm and completely satisfied.
With all the horror stories out there, thought I'd give props to a dealer who gets it and takes care of their customers.

good deal, on a side note I have been seeing that a lot of riders store there bikes at a dealer over the winter and I am wondering why. Just wondering as I would never let my bike out of my sight that long to many things can happen.

Up here in the Great White North, some don't have garages large enough to store the bike and the snowblower comfortably, or don't want to maneuver around the bike all winter in a smallish garage, or want space for the cars inside the garage in winter so they don't have to scrape frost and snow off windshields in the morning.
Had the dealer install Rush 2" Mufflers on my FatBoy Lo. When I picked it up they were super apologetic, seems the mechanic determined that one of the mufflers was "blemished". They ordered a new one and swapped it out promptly when it arrived.
I never could find the " blemish", but I really appreciated their attention to detail....and customer satisfaction.
