I performed a clutch adjustment on my 2012 SG and noticed these paint marking in yellow on the clutch basket. Does anyone have any idea what it may signify?
Clutch springs are often marked with paint to identify the spring tension rating.
with 3 yellow stripes, if you also have a pink smudge on there, that may be a "stock" type clutch spring used on the early 103's ( and possibly still).
this is a "softer" spring and may slip under heavy use.
The old S/E spring I put in my 1988 FXRp was "blue"
A few riders have posted some markings vs testing results on the web
