Default Problem with CB antenna, help

Hi Guys,

I've had my Ultra less than 3 months and the CB antenna has snapped off twice now! Right above the rubber base, the antenna has just snapped right off. The first time it hapened the bike was only about 6 weeks old and I thought it was a vandal that did it. Today, I left my house and know it was there, on my way to drop her off for a 5K service when I got there just 15 miles away the second one was gone, broken the same way. No one had access to the bike 'cause I was driving it.

Anyone else have this problem? I asked the folks at service this morning and they've never heard of it. I also checked if this is a warranty item.

Thanks,
Joe

Forget the stock antennas. Freedom Cycles in Reno Nv have flex-short replacements. No more ting-a-ling antenna noise going into the garage as it scrapes against the door or breaks. A few of us on this forum have them. No loss of reception that I can tell. Looks much better too. Gets rid of that "remote control toy bike" look.

Don't remember if it was this board or another one (yeah like ther'e another board ) but supposedly this is a common problem and many have had it covered under thier warranty. I'll see if I can find the link to the thread.

It may not be "snapping off"....could be the allen screw is loose...use a little Blue LockTite....should do it.

I lost mine at about 70MPH headed to the VA state rally this summer. Bike had about 3000 miles on it. Snapped right off at the top of the spring base. The screw did not come out, the antenna broke. The base contained about a 1 inch piece of the antenna. Patriot HD replaced it under warranty.

I was riding behind a friend with an Ultra and just happened to see his fall off and land in the road. We had been about 300 miles that day. It had snapped off between the mount and the spring. On my own I have bent it over many times putting on a cover when traveling and have straigtened it back out without it breaking.

Do you have a link for their website? Even better a link directly to the antennas?

Edit: Found them here. If you scroll to the bottom of that page they talk about the antennas. I emailed them for more information, specifically whether or not they make direct replacements for both the AM/FM radio antenna and the CB radio antenna.

It's not the screw, it is breaking for sure. Second one. Let's see what the dealer says. I'll probably go with the one's from Freedom cycle, they look pretty good.

Thanks,
Joe

let the dealer replace it under warranty. Then replace them with the freedom cycle antennas. Save the old ones for cat toys. The way those things whip you can get a cat going in circles pretty good.
