I'm looking to install speakers in my lowers. I have the factory hk amp, which I think provides 50w per channel. I'm not going to change the amp. I already have hog tunes speakers in the
Fairing and very happy with them. What is the best (affordable) speaker enclosure for the lowers, and what speakers seem to work well (again, affordable) for the lowers. Would love to hear from ultranutz on this. And others of course. Ebay has some interesting options, but I don't want to have to do this twice. Thanks.....
I actually have the Se ultra, amp is relocated inside the fairing, no rear speakers. I ditched the leather tour pack and am currently using one without speaker pods. The rear speakers seemed useless other than at a stoplight, so I wanted to try lower speakers....
ok just trying to get my throbbing head (too much alcohol yesterday) around it.
ok this amp is setup for a 2 ohm load so with the existing 2 ohm HT speakers in your fairing, it's going to present an issue for you by adding more speakers because regardless which way you go, either 2 ohm or 4 ohm speakers, they're going to have to be wired in a configuration that will bring the impedance load at the amp higher than 2 ohm. This is safe to do, just don't go the other way by lowering your impedance below 2 ohms. So if you went with another 2 ohm speaker such as HT, Polk, etc, you bring the load up 4 ohms and you will effectively cut the output power of the amp down by about 1/3.
So with this said, my suggestion is simple sir. Get something like a PBR300x2 amp and run your lowers (2 ohm speakers) off of it and leave your existing setup alone or get a 4 channel amp and do away with the HD amp altogether.
