Default Foggy headlight

I have an '07 Road King Police and the headlight is foggy. I changed the black stock headlight nacelle for chrome and while inside noticed that the end of the headlight plug-in is slightly melted. The headlight still functions, but as I said the inside of the front headlight glass is foggy looking. Any ideas on what is going on with the headlight or what has happened?

Rick

I would take the nacelle back apart and make sure you don't have any wiring exposed which I would expect to be the case. You can get nice lights for $$$ or go to an auto parts store to replace what you have.

Check that you have the correct headlight bulb installed.
Replace the burnt connector.
I have had my headlight housing fog up on me about once a year on my 05. It’s a PIA but you can clean it.
Remove the unit from the bike. Remove the bulb if you didn’t when you took the unit off the bike. Place the unite on a towel so you don’t scratch the glass. I use Windex, spray some in the housing, stuff paper towels (use the good soft ones and not the cheap ones as they can scratch the reflector) through the bulb hole to fill the housing, use your finger to rotate them. You may half to do this 2 or 3 times to get all of the streaks off the glass and reflector. Don’t rub the reflector too hard as you can scratch it. If you try using something besides you finger, be careful that you don’t scratch the reflector or glass. Yes, I told you it’s a PIA to do but cheaper than a new headlight.

best way i found was to use some alcohol and crushed ice, pour some crushed ice in then some alcohol swirl it around repeat a few times rinse with alcohol, let it dry.

I second the alcohol trick. It worked for me.

Make sure to use some alcohol and also put some in with the water. It will dry with out leaving spots.
