Default Piston C-Clip install

I don't have the tool, what is the easiest way to get these little boogers in? Sure wish they were like my clips in my Dart Block. Those were easy to install.

The CP pistons come with the thicker diameter clips.... they are pretty stout.

With the clips' opening 180 degrees from the "notch" in the piston, lay one tip (end) of the clip in the groove. "Walk" the clip down into the hole until you get it over to the notch. With the tip of an awl in the notch, simply use it to snap the clip the rest of the way in by rotating the awl up w/the tip in place in the notch.

Be sure to install one on the bench, that way you only have to do one on the bike. I prefer to install the left side on the bench and the right side on the bike.

Compress the rings and install the piston(s) in the jug(s) on the bench and then have someone hold the piston/jug combo in place while you stab the wrist pin and clip the right side clip...

Also ~ DON'T FORGET THE BASE O-RING!!!

Nevermind. Guess I was too impatient to use the search feature.

ORIGINAL: PhilM

the wristpin clips are simple to install (right Dawg?).

Be sure to install one for each pistion on the bench, before sliding the piston(s) in the cylinder(s).

With the piston/cylinder in place and wristpin lubed & fully instered through piston & rod, all that's left is the clip ~ WAIT, don't forget the o-ring on the base of the jug!

Looking at the wristpin hole in the side of the piston, you'll see a notch, usually @ about 7:00. To the best of your ability, "pinch" the clip closed and insert it with the opening (opening in the clip)180 degrees from the notch. Using an awl with the tip in the notch, simply snap it in. It's really simple.

Another saftey measure.... don't take the rags out of the bores arounf the rods until after you've snapped the clip in place.

You really need the tool, it can be done but make sure you cover the crankcase opening with a rag. Most of the installations i've seen without a tool have resluted in minor scratches on the piston, these are tuff clips. Good luck.
