Sorry to hear it was totaled, glad to hear you were able to walk away. I lost my 07 to the rear end of a one ton dualie. Written off as totaled. Now have 2012 and have to start all over with the mods. Oh, and don't even bother looking at the Road Glides, they're horrible bikes and other Harley riders point and laugh....
You'll figure it out Dave.
I'm sure you already have!
The main thing is you're alright!! What took you so long to post?
By your title of the thread, I thought that this just happened?
Hell, you should have a new ride by now!
No point in extolling the +'s and -'s of models.
You'd do better just to go to your dealer and see what he has, what you can afford or rather what you're willing to spend, test ride the ones that you're interested in and go from there.
Capeche?

Hello Fellow HDForumers. It's been a while since I have posted anything. Been on night shift and would home and hit the sack.
Well on 3/30 as I'm on my way to work an SUV decided he wanted my lane. What he failed to see was me and another car ahead which he plowed into the *** end of. To avoid a major impact I went into skid mode and laid my beautiful 01 UC down. I came off and went road sliding, bike kept going and hit the side of the SUV. I walked away with some minor road rash and bruises. Bike was not so lucky due to front end damage it was considered totaled. This is bitter sweet as I poured a lot of blood, sweat, & tears into the 01, but now I get to look for a replacement. It's not as easy as I thought it would be.
5 or 6 speed?
Stay above 09?
ABS?
Security system?
UC or UC limited?
Do I even test ride a road glide?
These are all personal choices that I will have to make, but as I said, its not easy. Oh well, there are worse things in life to be troubled over.
Sorry it happened, glad your allright. Been without my uc for 3 weeks now my wife and I got ran off the road and bike almost totaled. It sucks being without one I really miss the weekends out! Just shy of 2000$ to total it gettin new frame, I have an 09 and love it! sat on a road glide ultra last week, didnt really care for it, felt really top heavy, like the looks but that was the impression I got sittin on it. I know guys really like them youll just have to test ride to see what you think, Ill stick with the uc !
You'll be real impressed with the newer chassis ( 2009 and up ) ... There's a big difference in the feel, handling and braking ... I wouldn't let ABS sway my choice, if it has it great, if not, not a deal breaker ... I'm an FLHTCU fan 9 and have been for a long time ... Good Luck with your predicament and congratulations on surviving what could have been a life altering event.
The important thing is that you're okay. Was the goofball drunk, texting or texting drunk?
Since I have no clue what your likes in bikes are, these are my picks...
5 or 6 speed? 6 speed
Stay above 09? I would
ABS? I wish I had it, so yes
Security system? Yes, since I have the whole thing
UC or UC limited? That's up to you
Do I even test ride a road glide? I would to make sure
This is bitter sweet as I poured a lot of blood, sweat, & tears into the 01, but now I get to look for a replacement.

1. The six speed isn't any better than the 5.
2. The "new frame" isn't any better than the previous.
3. ABS isn't worth paying extra.
4. Ditto for the S.S.
5. Your choice.
6. I would.
The economy still sucks. Were I buying now, I keep my options open and look for a steal of a deal. They are out there, just stay out of the dealership.
Glad you were OK.
Also with the fixed headlights you will not be able to ride around corners at night and my radio has been stuck on a Bulgarian goat roping channel for 2 years because I can't reach the radio to change the channel!
This is completely false info. The fixed headlights will have no impact on night time corner riding. Actually the fixed position may have an edge OVER the batwing since your counter steer through a corner would actually point the bat wing headlight in the wrong direction, only slightly though.
I've owned a streetglide, then a road glide, then an electraglide, and now and ultra. Both fairing styles have advantages but my overall preferance is the bat wing.
