So, I finally pulled the fuel pump and confirmed my suspicions; the line leading from the reguator to the check valve has rubbed on the tank wall and now has 2 holes in it. I am going to replace the line and want to wrap something around the new line in the area that rubbed on the tank. I have some split wire loom that will fit perfectly but I am not sure if it will hold up to being submerged in gas all the time. Any thoughts? The other option is to split the old line and use that.
Didn't think it would be, but, I think HD has solved the issue with a re-design tothe hose. The new one I just picked up is about 2-2.5 inches shorter than the one I took out. With any luck that will solve the rub issue. May still put a short section of the old one on the new in the approximate area of the rub, we'll see.
Thought about doing the gates rubber replacement, but, wanted to get a new check valve to avoid any leaks. I will play around with making a back up with the rubber line.
Anyone have any issues with the install of the updated shorter line?
Yea I replaced my check valve also because a new one had come out for the 09's and mine was leaking,,, the hose was ok but replaced it because of all the problems I had read about.
