Hi everyone,
We are taking a long ride this summer and looking for a good headset for the ride. We purchased the cheap ebay "helmetless" headsets a couple of years ago and only used them once. They leave alot to be desired. We are looking to get something better and everything points to the J&M. Does anyone know the differences between the Elite and Performance series? J&M says there is no comparison but a dealer (dont want to say who) says save your money and get the performance series.
When it's all said and done there is a $150 difference between the two. I don't want to throw money away but I also don't want to later say I shoulda gotten the Elite series.

Reviews are not good for J&M. I did a lot of reading. Get the Ed Sets they are the best.
So what makes the ed set any better than the J&M or the H-D? ....and don't tell me it's all the bad reviews for the J&M because for every bad review you show me, I'll show you a good one.
I just picked up a new H-D set to wear with my half helmet for less than $100. Ed's is $236.
I spent quite a while looking at his site. The goldwing guys really seem to like his stuff. The setup he has for a shorty helmet only works for one style of helmet where the helmet drops down above the ears. J&M has a set specifically made for both types of shorty helmets. His headsets are not really any cheaper than J&M which is not necessarily bad if you are looking for a quality headset and he delivers.
I have the J&M Performance, one in my modular and one in a shorty...the sound of the music is way better than the HD or the IMC/Boom helmetless...I have tried the Elite in a Nolan and it sounds better, the mic is the same but the speakers are slightly better.. Would i spend the extra??? depends if i had the coin...I listen to my tunes from the fairing speakers...My co-riders say they hear me the best on my J&M headset compared to the HD and IMC ...
"Reviews are not good for J&M. I did a lot of reading. Get the Ed Sets they are the best."...???? I call BULLSHIT on this...Never heard of Ed Sets...

They're all made in China - Ed's/J&M/H-D
I guess for me it is the better speakers based on the audio engineering tests, the sturdier cords and lower cables, the exchangeable boom mics, the way the module attaches to the helmet and other plug ins for auxiliary audio equipment, the method of attachment of the lower cable to the upper cable is easy to remove, the sturdy pin connector into the helmet attachment. I don't find there is much difference in price either between the J&M and the Ed Sets. Now with the HD head sets yes but those are not good audio speakers.

But have you tried the Edsets yet or are you just going by reviews?
