I'm getting the feeling that doing this conversion may not be the best thing after all.
I appreciate all of your thoughts and ideas.
Anything else pops into your mind let me know, I still have a little time.
Thanks!
love to, I'll just tell my boss(wife) and my employer I'll see'em in a couple of days.
Problem is, there are just so many highways heading your direction, which one to take?!
Where in northeast? I just came from Rye NH..............
Well I's from White River Jct., Vermont and Steve (Maineultraclassic) is from Biddeford, Maine. Once he saves his pennies for his HQ34's we have to have a build party to help him out and compete with Bryan and PhilM down yonder You got any buildin' you need.....got most of the tools needed
IMO If you decide to go with the Andrews 26's, save your money and don't have the heads done. Even a budget head port job like a Big Boyz (who I understand does great bang-for-the-buck-work) will not yield that much more performance out of the 26's. The 26's will be a better option than the 203's.
I was just like you......all ready to spring for the HD 95 kit with the 203s. The more I looked into it, the more I became afraid I'd end up having to do it all over again. For sure I didn't see the point of keeping the chain-driven cam setup.
I've put it on hold for now, but here's where I left it.
Knight Prowler (Woods) gear-driven cams, (reasonably mild) on a 95' with some minor headwork, PCIII, 2-1 exhaust.
It was gonna be in the 100/100ish ballpark.
What does everyone elsethink about the 26G's and headwork? It was my understanding that the headwork was a sure deal. Biggzed's response is the first to make me think otherwise. I'm doing a 95" with 26G's on my 05Ultra - was planning on mild head work. But, if I'm pissing away the $400 to get it done, I'm sure my wife can spend that $400 really quick.

I agree with BZ... read my post earlier in this thread carefully.
I've recently built 2 95", late model Andrews 26 builds with nothing but 1550, cams, slip-ons or pipe, and both were almost 100ft/lbs of torque. Those cams are DESIGNED to be run in stock motors with stock flowing heads and stock compression.
I have commented on this exact topic several times & been accused of being crazy, but it is what it is......
I'm going with what Phil has advised. Gathering parts for 95 jugs, flat top pistons, 26g cams and the cometic gasket. No head work as the 06s flow prettywell all on their own.Gonna need adjustable pushrods with the cometic though.
