Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and ideas. Looks like I am going to wait and dig into this a bit more. Sounds like there are a lot of good options out there.

Thanks again,

IMHO your better off going to someone who sells a big bore kit, matching bore, pistonswithcams and head work. There are several, I went with Revolution Performance, there are others like Zippers.

I have a 2005 Road King. Have done 95 inch upgrade with the Screamin' Eagle intake, S&S 570G Gear Driven Cams, HDFR heads (machined), quick install push rods, Evo valves with heavy duty springs and high performance clutch spring. Have Vance & Hines Oval slip on mufflers with stock header. Also have installed Power Commander III and had it custom tuned. The Dyno shows 94 hp and 104 fp torque. Strongest pull is in the 2 - 4K range (just where I want it to be).

Jonah,

If the standard HD Stage II kits is what was installed, then your heads and compressionare basically stock. THe Andrews 26's would make all the difference in the world, when compared to the config you have now. I prefer the gear drive version for two reasons... 1) No more worries about tensioner shoes failing. 2) Less parasitic drag generated driving the cams.

I know your frustration!

when going from chain to gear drive, you will need the cams, gear set and the install kit.

Just an FYI but I just purchased the complete 26GKit from Wallys for $581 delivered. That was the best price I could find. They dont list that kit in their website, you will need to call. Their part # is 26GKit

For the gear drive version, you need cams, gear kit, and install kit (gaskets, bearings, gasket).

For the chain drive version of the same cam, all you beed is the cams & install kit.

Replacing the stock pushrods w/adjustable pushrods will speed the install up considerably, as you can simply cut the stock ones w/bolt cutter and use the adjustable going back. That saves opening the rocker boxes, rockers, etc...

You can get the S/E adjustable pushrods from Zanotti HD for $108.
