I posted this in the Regional Events Rides and Road Reports, Southeast section and didn't get a reply. I'm hoping someone might see this in the Touring section.
We're taking a bike trip to theOzarks and we are going to stay a couple of days near Harrison Arkansas. We arelooking for the best camp ground for motorcycle camping in the Harrison area.Any suggestions from forum members that are familiar with this area would beappreciated. Thanks in advance!
I live here in Arkysaw, and my favorite and safest place to camp anywhere up north is just south on Hwy 65 near St Joe. A three mile journey east down State Hwy 333 will deliver you to the little town of Gilbert. Also known as the "Coolest Place in Arkansas". The population varies but is currently listed as 37 or 39. Great historic general store there operated by Ben Fruehauf who also runs one of the coolest Buffalo River canoe liveries. The Riverside Inn restaurant has been a hit since its inception by an old friend and neighbor from Little Rock. Their is plenty of camping area, a cabin and a few rooms available with reservations. You can also camp on a gravel bar on the Buffalo River if you so chose, just keep an eye on the weather up stream. ;-) Gilbert is about 200 yards from the river. I used to enjoy taking the GF and children floating on this section, as their was only one place where their was any fast water at all, much less any real level of difficulty. The Hwy 65 float is only four miles, but you can take all day slow floating it or cruise down in an hour or so.
You haven't gotten the idea that this is one of my favorite places yet have you! ROFL
This has been one of my favorite refuges for the last 25 years.

You can't go wrong staying at the HUB, Randal cooks the best prime rib in Arkansas. Great folks and a motorcycle resort. Rooms are great and the camping is right in the yard. I believe they have a shower for campers,etc..

Razorback, I tried the link. Unable to find the web sight. Wanted to get more info about the place. I'm riding down there with the OP to the Ozarks. Would like to support a Vet. Tried to call the phone number, no answer or answering machine. Anyone know if they are still in business? Thanks
