the price difference is really $2k because of the stage 1 mods done already. but if you can afford it, go with the newer bike. the 103 feels like a big block vs the 96, and you can actually use 6th gear.
you might want to consider if there's any warranty left on either 1 and also see if the 1000 mi checkup has been completed on them....
Both have had the 1000 mile checkup, I think the 2011 may have a few months of the factory warranty left.
Both bikes are mint and have only been ridden a couple times.
Sounds like the opinion is to go with the 103.
but, I guess if I could get the 96 for around 16k,It actually has the exhaust and a/f I was planning on getting for either bike anyways so that's some more saving in the stage 1 and might not be a bad deal.
I'm planning on keeping this one for a couple years, I had the last one for 5 years, so I'm assuming there will be something new out in another 5.
2011 w/103" is the way I would go. Worth a little more in the near future because of the 103",if that means anything to you. Its also a year newer for only $1k more.
I'm looking at picking up a new (to me) Street glide,
I've narrowed it down to 2 bikes, both are private party sellers..
2010 Vivid Black 96 engine
ABS, Security, Cruise
V&H true duals, Screaming Eagle A/F, Powercommander
4 point docking and backrest, other little misc parts
1500 miles
$17000
or
2011 Denim Black 103 engine
ABS, Security, Cruise
Stock engine
4 point docking with Backrest and other little misc parts
1000 miles
$18000
Which bike seems like a better deal? I've read a bunch of the threads on the 96 vs 103 and I have friend's that have both, some say there is a difference, some say get the 96 and use the saved 1k for some cams and a tune...
what does the internet say??
thanks for the help!!!
Ok well the 2011 isn't available anymore so I thought the decision would be easier, then I found another one...
2012 vivid black w/ 103 engine
Abs,cruise,security
Vance and Hines mufflers
4 point docking with backrest
Passenger floorboards and some other little misc stuff
Still under factory warranty
4500 miles
$18k
Any opinions on this one vs the 2010 I have up here? I'm looking to try to get something fairly soon...
Go for the 103, you won't be disappointed. The 2012 will do you happy - see if the price has any negotiation room, but even at $18K, that is a deal IMO.
