I just installed a cruise control on my EG Calssic/FLHTC. Checked the forum and read instructions thoroughly several times. Install went fine...except. Now the brake light wont illuminate with the front brake engaged...There as a specific instruction on placing a 5/32 shim where the brake lever goes into the housing which I placed prior to removal. I am gong to re-remove/install and see if I missed something.
Any ideas as to why light is now not working? Thanks for the help.
Rut Roh Jorge....Ok, brake light/switch working (I had to plug in the wiring harness) but now bike wont start...all lights come on with ignition, I get no EFI charging noise when put into ignition position and run switch moved to run. I also have the (key) symbol lit up now and I don't recall that lighting up before as I don't have a security system...So wth?
If you have a service manual, you can identify the wires in the right side harness that are most likely the problem which are the "run" switch. You pinched one or more when you reinstalled the switch housing.
I know this ain't no help to ya....but it sounds like you muffed something up in the switch housing.
Thing is it's all pre wired and pre assembled, all you do is take off original switch housing and loosen master cylinder and clamp on new housing with cruise and plug into the original harness plug. Done. Odd it won't start.

Hey Carl, I don't have a SM but I see after all the stuff I been doing I might have to get one. On that note, You thinkin I pinched one of the wires after running it thru the clam/mounting bracket for the brake cylinder? I can't believe there is no channel, it just gets mashed under the clamp??
I'll go undo and see if I can find anything.
What about he security system (key icon) lighting up now? Has that always lit up upon ignition on and I never noticed it??
No! Security Light should not iluminate unless you have a security issue. Your FOB battery may have died or not close enough to the bike. Looks like your security system is activating. Try deactivating your system manually. If that works it'd be your FOB. Replace battery. If that doesn't work you screwed something up with the wires. Check to see if it's throwing any codes.
Your security system works through the TSSM Module. You need a S. Manual. PM me your email address and I will send you the Schematic for the right hand grip wiring to TSSM Module. It will give you an idea of what wires you should be looking at. Schematic I have is actually for the 2009 Ultra Classic but should be the same for 2010.
