I have a set of 4" V&H Twin Slash rounds I'm going to install on my Road King. I was going to gut my cat but have the opportunity to buy a set of, barely used ,V&H Dresser Duals pretty cheap. Opinions on this set up? Hopefully I will not hurt my bottom end. Also, seeing that I am not changing the intake yet, I assume I will be ok without a programmer?
My wife is getting me a PCV for my birthday in August and I was going to install the Stage 1 intake then. But until then Im going to run just the Dresser Duals with the slip on's without a programmer.
I thought so, but V&H website says you need their Power Pack with the change. I guess its just a ploy to sell their product. I have always done Stage 1, programmer, and exhaust at the same time, so never gave it a second thought. Just cant afford to do that right now.
Your bike will be just fine with only exhaust. It will sound like a harley instead of a sewing machine, lol. If coin is the issue, you could always find a cheap stock air cleaner on fleabay, do the air cleaner mod and XIED's, cheap, win win. That will be good until you get a tuner to finish your stage 1, or who knows, you may be happy with the XIED's. Thats what I plan on runnin. I have a big sucker, cattless pipe from fleabay and XIED's waitin. Thats the extent of my mods until my warranty runs out.
I put on a set of Kerker Stouts this spring along with the Vied's.I ran slip ons only for a few weeks before I put the Vied's on.No temp gauge, but the bike seems to run a little cooler and sounds pretty nice too.
Well, picked up the dresser duals and installed them along with the V&H slash round slip ons and it is pretty loud. Sounds ok idling but it's loud rolling on the throttle. I'm actually on the fence with selling either the dresser duals or getting quiter slip ons. It sounds good but I must be getting old. I found myself creeping slow to keep the noise down
Let me know a price. PM me when you have a number in mind. We can make a deal with my catless headers. This way you keep your stock ones as stock. Mine where gutted via the coupon way.
