Default [bb]cooling down process

How long does it usually take for the rear head to cool down before you can start back riding due to heat. Are there any other measures to take other than coolers/fans to help

What are you talking about? Cool down before you can start back riding? Are you thinking you have to stop riding your bike for a while to let it cool down? Am I misunderstanding your question? These bikes run hot from the factory but even so you can ride them all day everyday and stop and start all you want, whenever you want. They have been known to go into limp mode while stuck in traffic but if you want you can turn that off.

Never heard that one before. Mind you, a modified engine running at significantly higher compression than stock can be harder to start when hot if not equipped with compression release valves.

Start up again as soon as you're ready. No need to wait for any other reason, the bike will be fine.

I think the OP was referring to when the engine goes into parade mode. Has not happened to me as of yet so I can't help you.

There is parade mode where the EITMS kicks in and cuts out the rear cylinder effectively turning the rear cylinder into a air pump, creating a cooling effect for the motor; but there is also total shutdown mode where when damaging heat may occur the motor shuts down completely.

I wonder if the OP is referring to the latter action?

read the owners manual.

EITMS will only activate when the motor reaches a preset temperature. when the bike is stopped.

--- so this will never happen while you are riding down the road---

While stopped the rider can manually activate by rolling throttle forward and holding it there.

as above, this pumps air through the rear cylinder ( no fuel, no fire) and the air carries heat out of the motor.
this is good...and smart.

AFAIK the Cadillac Northstar motor was the first to use this technology.

On our bikes it is just the rear cylinder as it gets less airflow than the front and always runs hotter ( and because of this the rear cyl mixture may be richer, the ignition timing may be a few degrees retarded from the front cyl timing)

another part of the motor cooling system is the motor oil, the perceived high idle ( 1000 rpms+/-) is to increase oil pressure and volume through the motor...the oil carries away heat from the hottest parts of the motor and carries the heat to be dissipated.

Higher idle also has reduced tailpipe emissions
