Was in my favorite auto parts store today picking up
some oil....Valvoline 20/50 syn.
Sales guy says they have a special "5 qts and a free filter."
Told him my bike only takes 3.5 qts, so don't need 5 qts.
He said; "you should buy the Mobil 1 V-Twin 20/50 syn because it's
made for motorcycles."
I asked him what the difference was between Valvoline 20/50 syn
and Mobil 1 V-Twin 20/50 syn....except for the obvious $ 2.50 / qt !!
He mumbled, sputtered, but never did answer my question.
I still bought the 4 qts of Valvoline......

geez guy...it says it right on the label...it is for motorcycles! no need to sweat the details.
Yeah I know...he was just so damn adamant at selling me
m/c specific oil.
I have used Mobil 1 syn 'not m/c specific' for literally
over 100k miles between my last 2 bikes without any issues.
Decided to stray away from Mobil 1 and give Valvoline a try....
Guess I had to chuckle at the salesman....
and maybe it was one of them "you had to be there" moments.
I have switched to non-specific oil in the tranny and primary. No issues so far and my next engine oil change will be to Valvoline 20-50 motorcycle oil (dino) but it's only $6 a quart so not bad. Something still tells me to use motorcycle oil for the motor, although I really have no idea whether it actually makes any difference...

It has to be made for a motorcycle or you can't use it, the engine will explode and blow your legs off.
