I was just talking to customer service at Wild1 and the guy told me that you need a longer clutch cable(4 over) for the WO575 bars.
I am confused, one person says you do, another says you don't.
The wo578 taper off but the left side is visible just inside the control. Like 1/8 of an inch. It doesn't bother me but some people it does. Love the bars
575's will work. Wrist angle is almost exactly the same as stock. They are 2 inches closer to you, 2 inches higher, and also about 2 inches wider. Once I got my outer fairing off I saw that the oem clutch cable ran in front of and over the top of my glovebox (FLHT, no stereo), then out hole in dash. Re routed it under my glovebox and out hole in dash and gained about 3 inches. Just enough to work. I assume this will work the same on a bike with a stereo. To use the oem brake line you have to CAREFULLY straighten it, avoiding any kinks, of course. Throttle cables were plenty long enough. Good luck.
So I guess the tech guys at Wild1 are saying you need a +4 clutch cable just to make it easier. He did say the stock one would be pretty tight.
Can anyone who has installed them on an 08 UC give me a PM or answer here as to how they rerouted the clutch and brake cables to make it work and still come out through the inner fairing...Thanks guys.
I did the 578 myself and had to get the +4 clutch cable only. The electrical wiring in the fairing had to be re-routed around the stereo but was minor. Brake line was fine and was not in any bind.
I put the WO575 on my 2012 street glide, I did not have to change any wiring or brake lines. I did however have to go back and change the clutch cable. I had to reroute the OEM cable by pulling it from the dash hole and routing it outside the fairing and up the bars to the lever. didn't like how it looked so I went with the barnette 4" over and routed it like it was from factory.
Did the Wild 1 575 myself and did change to a +4 clutch cable. Plenty of brake lines and as was said, just re-routed the wiring in the fairing. They are chubby, 1 1/4" in the main part of the bar but reduce to 1" at the clamp and grips so that part of the hardware is fine.
I don't understand this, one person says you have to change clutch cable the other says you don't.... how can you order anything with that advice. confused.
