Has Harley change the belt deflection specs recently?
Looking in the 2013 Touring Service Manual I noticed the belt deflection is listed as; 1/4” ~ 7/16” for the bikes with the shorter rear shocks and all others 3/8“ ~ 9/16”. My 07 and 09 SM listed the belt deflection specs as 1/4” ~ 5/16” and 3/8” ~ 7/16” respectively. That is a 3/16 “deflection tolerance now in respect to the old 1/16” tolerance. If this is correct, it should be a lot easier to adjust the belt deflection with a 3/16” tolerance.
If this is not a printed error in the 13 SM manual, when did Harley change the belt deflection specs? I have had other belt drive HD in the past, and the best I can remember is the belt deflection specs have always been the 1/16” tolerance range.
