Since you've already got a great bike to ride, you might consider waiting for winter to roll around and then pick up an '07 SG at abetterprice. Bought my '07 SG in Dec '06, and the dealer kicked in a free $750 gift certificate. Then January '07 rolled around and the same dealer was giving out $1000 gift certificates to entice new buyers. Winter is the time to get the good deals.
Unless there ishard evidence thatimprovements will be made to the '08 models, take the plunge andgo for the '07 SG. You'll love it.
Since you have a ride for the summer, and no need to make a leap. I would wait. My bike, like a lot of us, is paid for. So, if something comes out down the line that makes my b@lls tingle enough to sell my baby and probally have a payment. I ain't sellin'. But, I wont be paying for your bike, so the choice is up to you. Aug/Sept will be here soon enough. Take the summer and enjoy the ride you have. IMHO
05 buyers were bummed when 06's got the HK Radio, 06 owners were bummed that 07's got 96-6sp, hmmmm, what will 07's wish they got when 08's come out?...doesn't matter when you're rollin..it's all good no matter what year you got
Wait for the 08.
If the 08's have something new you like get one. If not you get the 07 at a discount. Either way it's win, win.
I agree with cbwat1. The bike you're riding is serviceable for the time being. If the 08 doesn't float your boat, there will be plenty of 07's running around at a discount. and dealers wnating to unload them to folks who have to have an 08
