Question Hook an OEM horn to security system???

Can a standard OEM horn be connected to the security system 14v hookup or would the amperage draw be too high??? I know it could be done by hooking the alarm to a relay that uses direct battery power to energize the horn VIA a relay but just being lazy I suppose... Most important I don't want to damage the security system by overtaxing it's 12v out...

I know that it is an option for the security system to get the horn to sound. Heck you can even get your bike to alert you somehow, I can not remember if it was a text, call or if it made your key fob beep or something. Anyway there is a wire plug in from the factory that will allow what you are asking for.

relay would work...many of us use a $6 radio shack piezo siren.

search and you can get details.

Have the piezo setup now... Replacing the stock horn with a Wolo Bad Boy and was thinking about leaving the OEM horn mounted and using with the alarm system... I would imagine it would be louder than the RS piezo I now have hooked up...

Any sound device you want via a relay. Don't be lazy, it could bite ya in the end.

This actually one of my weekend projects in two weeks.

Good "sound" advice... Pun intended...
