That would be killer!

Got a link to the part? Cant find it on CDs web site
I didn't get my 3157 LED bulb from CD. I ordered it on line from superbrightleds.com. They have all kinds of LED lights. Here is a link for different types of 3157 LED bulbs. I bought number 2, and in red (the dual intensity 18 led bulb). It costs only $17.95. The light put out is great and plugs in the stock socket.

Thanks so much! This saved me about $120 by not buying a whole LED tail light unit.

Odd because I searched on superbrightleds.com for 3157 and didnt find anything.

I'm guessing it wont be as bright as the full CD LED tail light unit, but it has to be brighter than stock.

I went with all Custom Dynamics. I believe any of the main brands you'll find discussed here at HDF can be good choices, I just decided to buy from a single vendor to avoid potential technical incompatibilities.
Here is the writeup I created for my shopping and installation experiences:

As good, NO, cheaper, YES.
I went through $100 worth of junk before spending on the Custom Dynamics.
I bought a few different makes through Dennis Kirk clearance before "seeing the light"............
Bite the bullet, spend the $$, love em and move onto your next endevour.

My two cents: CDI is best in class! You will need an equalizer, as the lower current draw of LEDs will otherwise be interpreted by your bike's flasher as a burned out lamp, and will cause the signals to blink fast.

I know there are internet methods to get around buying an equalizer by building a resistor network, but it has to fit in the signal housing, it gets very hot, and is subject to shorting or grounding due to the size of the resistors (size is driven by wattage, and you need some big resistors). I have them, and they are super bright. I followed my brother home on his ride from the dealer and was sold the first time he stopped.

Biggest thing to remember in avoiding a rear-end collision is visibility. Anything you can do to make yourself more noticeable during braking or stopping is great. Even better when you don't have to cluster-f*ck the rear of your bike with extra lamps. Although they are visible, I don't need the back of my bagger looking like Mad Max's car or flashing like a disco.

Good Luck!

One more vote for Custom Dynamics. Great customer service. And it took a couple of minutes per light to install. 48 lights of LED brightness. VERY happy with them.

Another plus 1 for Custom Dynamics. Just installed the Dynamic Ringzs in the front that match my trucklite and Dynamic Clustrers in the back that work as run, turn, brake with Red and Amber colours. Great Customer Service as they will walk you through your set up and help you customize. I was going to go with Badlands equalizer but so impressed with CD`s customer service that I went with theirs and it was an easy install.
