Default Back fire when letting off

98 road glide fuel injected. When I let off there is a slight back fire. Bike idols fine. Is this normal or any ideas what I can do to stop it. Pipes and everything else are all stock. Thanks

Doubt it's backfire. Just decel popping from unburnt fuel in the exhaust. Nothing to worry about.

Check to make sure you don't have an exhaust leak....that will cause decel pops a lot of the times.

I just picked up a 96' Road King with fuel injection and mine does the same thing. I agree with Davessworks, it's probably decel popping.

My experience has been that it can vary depending on the muffler and the condition/age of the muffler. Nothing to worry about and not particularly easy to prevent.

Its normal, just your bikes way of letting you know it needs to burp. If shes runs fine, I wouldn't worry about sporadic hiccups. Oh yeah, welcome to the touring forum man... Wish you many miles of smiles on that bad boy.

OK, is it burping or hiccuping? I'm sooooo confused..... because if it's burping, I'll stop feeding her beans after 9PM. But if it's hiccups, I'll have to try some warm milk.
