I did Austin,Tx to Sturgis, did the rides there then back on my 07 nighttrain in 07, little over 3,000. Then in 09 rode from Austin,Tx to St Petersburg,Fl on the train. Stayed there for 3 weeks in training. Made it to Daytona while I was there. Definitely over 3,000 on that one. Had my duffle bag stuffed and strapped sideways and took off. Good times. Got a touring bike now and haven't made a super long trip yet.
I have done 8500 miles over 26 days. We limited it to around 300-350 mileso n most days since it was such a long ride. This way we could stop and see the National parks, take pics, etc.
we never made any hotel reservations. where we ended up that evening or when we were tired (sun baked) we would stop for the night. We never rode much past 6pm to avoid the evening critters coming out on the road.
Longest trip coming up next week: ABQ, NM > Modesto, CA > Salem, OR (1550 mi in 34hrs), Then four days of riding around OR, then PCH back down thru CA and back to ABQ, NM. Nine days total.
My longest is almost 4,000 miles in 10 days. I spent 3 of them on the 9-11 foundation's memorial ride, and two nights in Greenville, SC visiting my daughter and grandkid, the rest was cruising up and back from Orlando, FL stopping at various points of interest I'd laid out (the York, PA factory; Apamattox Courthouse, the National D-Day Memorial, and, etc.). If I'd just burned up there and back It would've been 3500 mile ride and I could've done it in 7 days easy. Your's sounds feasible, depending on weather. HD has a great trip planner on their site. I use it a lot for long rides.
Longest Trip on my Roadking was from California to Sturgis covering 13 states 5,300 in 14 days. We did an Ironbutt 1100 mi in 19 hrs and another Ironbutt (2 up) 1540 mi in 28 hrs (32 total with a 4 hour nap . The spousal unit is a total trooper!

We've done more than a handful of 3500-4000 mile 9 day trips. Always two up and a few times as a single bike and a few times with 5 to 15 bikes. Ive done 1100 miles in 17 hours and too many 4 day weekend 1000-1500 mile trips. Be prepared for anything.
My longest trip was from Parkton,MD to Jasper National Park in Alberta, Canada with side trips to Banff NP, Lake Louise, Columbia Icefields, 7200 miles. Motels are all reserved in advance so we know we have a place to stay after a long days ride. Getting ready to head west to Colorado to ride Pikes Peak, then on to Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, Montana, back into Wyoming, South Dakota for a stop in Sturgis & Rapid City. This trip will be around 5800 miles. This will be our 11th trip west, each year we try to see as many NP's as possible. I ride with my son which really makes each ride special to me. I apologize for the long reply.
Longest ride this year was to Daytona and back from just North of Houston. Did a lot of ridding while there. Just over 2600 miles. This was my 4th trip there.
