Default New to touring?

I recently purchased a 2002 Electra Glide Classic with 4 thousand miles. It is in mint condition. I have been wondering about it being carbuerated. I paid 12K for the bike. I love it, but haven't been able to ride because of the usual upstate NY winter. Obviously I am bored to death, and keep thinking I should have gotten the FI version. Any comments would be appreciated. I have been riding a 97 1200 custom for the last couple of years and I got it bad for Harley's. Thanks Gordy

My Ultra, an '03 was FI and I see no significant draw back to carb. Unless your riding at much higher elevations, your card should do just fine. Personally I think I prefer the carb anyway. Easier to tune.

IMO.......anything less than a Delphi FI and I'd go carb(which doesn't leave much).

Just me though.

I think you did the right thing IMO.

I have ridden both carb and FI HDs. I dont think there is very much difference. The FIs tend to run a little better when very cold and get a little better fuel economy. The carbs are easier to tune. If you use the enricher properly the carbs run just as well cold.

I ride a 99 FLHR since new and am pleased; especially when I read about all of the ECM and Mapping issues that appear on this Web site. I am just getting ready to go to a 95 ci and cams, minor head work and rejetting the original carb. after just under 25,000 miles.

If you can't leave things alone like most, the carb will save you money, easier to tune.

Don't be afraid of the carb, once dailed in it will give you no problems.Keep a good fuel filter on it.I have always had carbs and really enjoy keeping them in tune.

I've got the Magnetti Marelli FI on my 2000 EGC. From what I've read I'd probably be better off with a carb. Don't worry about it and enjoy your ride. Your only one step away from your next bike anyway, so . . .

Hey, gordo, forgot to say welcome, so WELCOME! [sm=bounceybounce.gif]

thanks for the input, everyone, I guess I am getting a little sick of sitting waiting for the snow to melt. I have my sportster right by the puter, next year the flhtc will be in the house with me instead of shuddering in the garage.
