I can already tell that there is more heat so we will tell with time how much it affects the stock housing. This light kit has it's own wiring harness that is hardwired into the bulb and the stock 3-prong plug does not attach to the new light. The stock plug attaches into the new harness away from the bulb for turning the ballast on and off and adjusting the high/low beam so hopefully I will be good there.......hopefully.

I forgot about the stock headlight connector not being used with the HID set-up. I installed the HID light shortly after getting my 09, guess my memory is going along with my hair!! I changed the connector when I went with a glass headlamp and a 80/100W Hella bulb.
wired one of these [ e bay ] into the ground wire of my head light so I still have high and low beam , saw something on here were the low voltage when you start your bike the ballast can shut off or be damaged so I turn it off while I start my bike , and also I can shut my light off if I am riding in a group and run my spots
i have th e HI/LOW kit from DDM, its absolutely great for night riding. it lights up the entire road on both sides. i have the 6K on the bike but i also run them in my car & truck. i woulnt run any other kind of headlight.
Uh oh!! This isn't good. I was on the way home Saturday night on a dark country road, flipped on the high beam and all my lights went out. Scary as hell for a second until I could get the low beam back on. Not sure what could have caused this. I'll start investigating later today.
I had that happen to me once or twice, that's why I removed my HID set-up. When it worked, great lightening but when it stops working at night, well your a little screwed....
A lot of the kits have a cheap ballast which cannot handle the vibrations of a MC.

Bikemaster sent me a replacement HID bulb unit. I installed it and it worked fine........for just a little while. I drove the bike to work and didn't make it home before it went out too. There has to be something in the wiring of the Ultra Classic that makes this kit non-compatible with this bike. Unlike the original headlight, when I would use the high beam of the HID kit the spot lights would stay on. That is a sign something doesn't jive like it should. The kit has one-way connectors so there is no way to get wires crossed or backwards. I removed the HID kit and installed a Silverstar Ultra bulb. Anyone wanna buy a slightly used HID headlight kit, LOL???
I have one in my 2012 SG and my brother has one in his 2013 Ultra along with the running light bulbs, work great. We did secure the ballist and other part with velcro in the fairing so they don't bounce around.Much more light.
Just installed the Bikemaster 8000 on my 12 SG. Have not been out with it yet. Waiting on a tire change and thought while the bike was down I would throw the kit in that's been sitting in my draw for 3 months. Been reading a lot of negative feedback about these aftermarket HID kits. Wish me luck. Lol
