Default Want a brighter headlight

What is the best/cheapest option to get a brighter headlight on my 07 deuce? HID kit or LED? I recently installed a plug n play HID kit on my car and it made a HUGE difference.. Any input is appreciated. I want to keep it as cheap as possible but reliable.. I don't ride that much so I can't justify spending a ton of money on this but definitely want an upgrade.
Thanks!

You have a few options for HID:

1. Get a $35.00 HID kit off of Ebay and install that into your existing headlight bucket.

2. If your existing headlight bucket is too small for the ballast/wiring/etc. from the HID kit to fit into, get a deeper headlight bucket and install it there.

Either way it's still pretty cheap compared to buying stuff that's packaged as a "ready to go" solution. The dealer charges at least 300-400 bucks for their headlight and it's not better than what you'd put together yourself for WAY less.

Without a doubt, HID is the least expensive way to obtain the best lighting. LED is far more expensive and will not achieve a significant benefit over HID.

I would recommend a 55W 6000k H4 Bi-Xenon HID kit. As discodave alluded to, finding a place for the ballast can be a challenge. It does not always fit in the headlight bucket. The option is a larger bucket or wire it outside the bucket which is typically what is done. Since HID draws a significant current, I would also wire in an on/off switch or use a timed relay. This would reduce the strain when starting your bike.

Check eBay for HID kits. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies. Now with my car it had halogen projectors but the bike just has a halogen reflector housing. Is that what you guys have yours installed in? Are you able to use hi and low beams? Also do I have to worry about burning any electrical stuff going with 55w? What is stock wattage? 35w? Where are the ballasts typically placed if they don't fit inside?

Your questions are valid. The worry when installing High Intensity Discharge bulbs in a bike is that the electrical systems were not designed for it. Where the LED's are as bright as the HID but the utilize only 18% of the original wattage. Net, more light less power used. To me, that is worth the money, hands down. My headlight and riding lights cost me $349. I've seen the headlights alone for $280, but can't seem to find one now. FleaBay is your friend. Trucklites is the manufacturer for both HD and Kury LED headlights.

Best headlamp money I spent was on a good headlamp shell, I got a Cibie lamp housing and an Osram bulb for it, made a real difference in the light output and pattern.
