been looking at the Jagg oil coolers and it appears the off set thermostat equipped adapter will raise and move slightly forward the location of the oil filter. If this is so, it appears there may be room to go with a longer filter.
1. can anyone confirm this and if so can we then go with a longer filter than the standard shorty?
2. where can the best price be found for Jagg oil cooler products?
i don't have the answer to the question about the longer filter, but have been looking at the oil cooler debate since last fall.
the Jagg offset does relocate the spin on location in space, but enough or not, ??
the dangs things with cooler are not 'inexpensive'. i am begining to think any vendor with a good rep, regardless of price, is a good way to go. J&P had the coolers, but not the offset for both EVO and TC the last time I looked.
Direct from Setrab Oil Coolers site, the listing for the 4700 with the thermostat was $145.00, 4600 w/o thermo was $106.00
Oley, You have some flexibility as to the exacy angle you mount the adapter, while I've never tried a longer filter, I am quite sure there are no issues - filter no longer near the crank sensor....
I would thinka longer filter equals more filtering media and more oil cooling capacity. That coupled with the modification making theCrash Guard (engine guard for the R. Nader types) into an oil cooler is where I'm going. link to crash guard modification: https://www.hdforums.com/m_682284/tm.htm

I did the engine guard cooler mod W/ the Jagg, works great I did not remove the guard I drilled and tapped in place. Magnetize the drill bit first to help with metal shavings and also put grease on the tap.I first blew it out with air then flushed with kerosene to clean it out. Run the engine until the thermostat opens you should get an additional quart in after that. Should drop your temp by about 20 deg.
did you need a pipe thread tap or did a normal sae work? also did you find (where) or use chromed versus brass fittings?
I'm on this one like ticks on a hound dog. I can't believe I hadn't picked up on this sooner. I'm sure I've read posts where"crash guard oil cooler" was mentioned but was thinking normal cooler attached to the guard or something. The ole hear and see what you expect to see and miss the rest.
Do you have any close-up pics of your install? Going with the Jagg offset, I assume you didn't end up going the same route SeaHag went.
Oley, send me your email and I will try to get you pics tomorrow night, my buddy helped me out (he has all the tools) I believe that it was a pipe thread tap I'll try to get a hold of him to verify. the fittings are brass.
