I have an 05 EG, had a snafu while doing some clutch work and need a new derby cover gasket. I live quite a ways from the nearest dealer, week shipping time on line. Want to ride and was wondering if anyone has made their own gasket to get them by.
Of course you could make one out of a blank sheet of gasket paper, available at any auto parts store. But you could also get away with using a little silcone with or with out the old gasket until you have time to get to the dealer to buy a new one. There is no pressure behind the Derby Cover.

Yep! And take your tools with you to the dealership. If it leaks on the trip there, swap it out in the parking lot. Won't take 5 minutes...
The old one's gone, embarrassed to say, but after lot's of stuff apart and back together, forgot to tighten the derby cover bolts. Went for the short test ride, notice an oil drip, looked up and the derby cover was gone. Went and to get the trailer and on the way home there was the cover laying on the yellow line, very rural road. Prayer works. No gasket though. I really didn't see any thing special about them, so figured you could make your own. Thanks for the replies.

Now that is a new one to me. Never heard of that happening before...
