This is for anyone running Vance & Hines monster rounds. I just bought a 2013 SG and put on the monster rounds slip-ons. Wow! are these things quiet! Now, I'm not 22 yrs old and lookin to be just crazy loud but I am 48 yrs. old and lookin for SOME sound. My God, these things seem as quiet as stock. I don't have a stage 1 or anything yet but they still seem awfully quiet. I've heard that some have taken the wrap off the baffles and this increases volume somewhat. Wondering if this is true and if so how easy is it to do and how much louder would you say it is?
The guy I ride with has had them for a little over 10k on his 2010 ultra limited. They are very quiet and will not get louder. They are not any better than stock other than looks.
There are many other exhausts that sound great. Do yourself a favor and listen to other exhausts before you spend your money. Don't get in a hurry or you'll be right back in the same boat. If you had heard yours first I doubt you would have bought them.
I have a set of SE mufflers and I ended up making my own set of baffles for them. It now sounds as I wanted it to and I can say "yes, I made those". I did the same back when I had a set of Rineharts on my 1996 Ultra. Just have to play with the length and amount/size of holes.
With a name like "Monster Rounds", you'd think they'd rattle windows.
With the popularity of their "Monster Ovals" they new another market was for people you like the traditional round shape so they came up with "Monster Rounds".
It's like all the people who think Dodge actually makes a Hemi motor now.
It's just a name from the past they used for "name recognition" that took off.
and that's direct from a Chrysler Advertising executive doing an interview on one of those car shows when the Hemi name reappeared....and I had one at the time.
It's called marketing.

thats how i saw it, i almost went with them but luckily i had to work one weekend and my buddy bought his w/ their header with the Xpipe in it, i forgot name. soon as i heard them i laughed and went diff route.
i agree it was a good marketing pitch and it worked, everybody in Tn were running them because the dealer was pushing them on everything.
Quit screwing around trying different mufflers. Just get it over with and install a Thunderheader 2 into 1. Sound, performance, and looks badazz on a SG.
Had Thunderheaders on my 2000 Road King.....they do bark, sounded like a Big Block motor in that thing and they make some noise......my wife used to hear me coming when I left the intersection about a mile from our house and have the garage door open for me when I got there.....LOL
