I went through this same scenario when I got mine . I went from stripped down bare bones bikes to a SG. I got mine bc I didnt like all the clutter and busy look of the EG. I liked the wheels and clean lines of the SG. When I go on trips I use a Tbag but most of my riding is back and forth to work and a few weekend adventures from time to time. I have a Quick detatch sissy bar and stealth rack so I can go back to stripped down and clean lines in under a minute. I am happy with my decision

Can you afford the 2013? I should think you would get a better trade in value on a new bike than a used one. If I had the available funds I wouldn't think twice. Get the new 2013.

The white gauges are harder to see sometimes I think Same engine and frame. With 5K I could buy a tour pac and a painted inner fairing and still do a 107 kit on it. Both bikes are going to need pipes on them. I'm so confused. I'm no bar hopper and gonna ride it to eat up some miles. But do ride around town most of the time.

Umm, sounds like you have made your choice already to me. I ride my Limited everywhere, around town does not bother me. I am used to the tourpack on the back, cant't even tell its there.

Default Color

I went with the SG because the denim black is the fastest color, and also has the most torque.

Other than that you're a few mods away from being pretty similar (they won't ever be "the same" as the other).

Seems to me its a lot cheaper to get the Ultra to being almost an SG than the other way around.

In the end for me it was the paint choices and cleaner look of the street glide that won me over. For me it was easier to just add a taller windshield, tourpak and lowers to the bike I liked. Plus the big thing for me was paint, for the cost of a new bike I should like the color, not interested in painting a brand new bike.

Been on my SG for 2 months and 3,500 miles so far, great for riding to work (hour each way) and hitting bike nights and just running around town. Added a 4-point mount, sissy bar, and rack - just bought a Saddlemen bag and shopping a taller windshield for longer trips. Soft lowers for colder weather and I'm good. Thought I'd miss having a tour pack, but nope.

Oh, and we all know that Midnight Pearl is the fastest color - the denim finishes create WAY too much drag...

#1, Buy new.
#2, Buy the SG

I know I have a RG, but I went the "build it up" route. The take-off Ultra wheels have no value, the fenders are ugly, and you don't get the rear fender fascia. You also have black gauges and an ugly tank console.

Detach tour pak with lights was about $1500 for me. Well worth it. I also have lowers too, but am waiting to install.
