Moved my seat up, better, but still need longer bars...
So I started tinkering with the 2004 Road King I picked up. It has a Corbin Touring seat on it and it was set back as far as it could be. I adjusted things and put it as forward as it could be as I'm 5'9 and was reaching a bit for the bars and my feet aren't really totally flat on both sides without moving forward on my own.
I am probably going to keep the seat and see what Mean City can do about narrowing the nose and scooping it out a bit to lower me an inch or two.
The bike has heritage bars on it, which I believe are 8in? Is that correct for factory heritage mini-apes?
They are ok, but I'd like to be able to sit more upright or even sort of leaning back, with a more relaxed stance while riding. I'm thinking of either 12 or 14in apes.
I'm liking the look of the Todd's Cycle gloss black apes:

Any thoughts or suggestions? I know I'd need longer cables.
I just put a set of HD RoadKing/RoadGlide High Handlebars (part number 55954-00) on a friend's bike yesterday. With a Corbin seat these bars were perfect. These bars required no cable or wiring changes, although HD recommends a 5" plug and play wiring extension kit. We didn't use one as we found that there was plenty of slack in the stock wiring. The clutch cable had plenty of length, and with a little bending, the brake line fit perfect.

How tall is your friend?
Those look pretty close to the Heritage bars that I've got on it now. I think I need something a bit taller. I had 12in on 2in risers on my Deluxe and that was perfect for me. Since the Road King handlebar mount seems a bit lower and further out than the Deluxe, I'm thinking the 12 or 14s would be great.
I also emailed MCC with pics of my Corbin to see what they could do about narrowing the nose, scooping out the seat and moving me up an inch.
My bike had Wild One Beachbars that are 36" wide (I'm 5'8"). My previous bike had 33" wide bars on it. I ended up buying some Khrome Werks Heritage Fats bars that are 33" wide 9" rise but they make mini ape bars in 12,14,16, etc. that should work and are less expensive than the WO's. Look them up. LR.
