I can't comment about that since it's outside my experience, but would do some checking to make sure. If in doubt I would use adjustables.

May I also suggest that your friend consider moving to a 103" unless he has plans to increase his compression. I have my doubts as to the suitability of this cam grind with a 96" or 110" engine with 9.2:1 compression, as I would want to see at least 10:1. I believe that installing the 259's in a stock engine will result in a reduction of low-end power with a pronounced kick as it gets into its band. If he wants a smooth, flat TQ curve I think he needs to ponder his choices a bit more--but if he lives above 3k RPM he might be happy. Just my 2˘.

259s have a .030 smaller base circle than 255s. Good luck running stock push rods. That is a lot of cam for the stock 110 compression. Again good luck.

Also, my friend went and bought the SE -259E cam, SE Cam Plate, and high flow oil pump. I told him since we already had the heads off there was no reason to spend $150.00 for adjustable push rods.
I'm ready to put the cams in, and start reading the instruction sheet and it states that the adjustable push rods are required for the cam change. Does anyone know why? We live about 400 miles from the closest dealer, and I hate to send him for the push rods if they are not necessary. Thanks for listening.
If your not going to add compression to that 110. Those are the wrong cams and they do require longer pushrods due to a smaller base circle.

If you have someone that can shave the heads you will fix both of your problems, take .020 off the heads & install with .030 head gaskets, that will bump the compression & get the pushrod assembled distance .035 shorter. CR is probably still marginal for those cams, but would be better, the 259s like about 10.4 CR. Doing the above would get you close to 10.1.
