Heel Shifter
Some people love them and some hate them. I got used to mine on the 120 mile ride home from the dealer. Now with about 26,000 miles on it, I like it even more. Just a personal choice. If it continues to bother you, just take it off.
I have seen these threads before but never really chimed in. I have always told people that I use both the heal and toe shifters. I thought I did. I know I used to, but I recently rented an Electra glide on vacation and didn't notice that the heal shifter was removed until I did the return walk around. Adjust it how you see fit or take it off. I'm taking mine off after my experience. I need all the room I get for my size 15 boots
This my first bike with a heel shifter also .. all the other HD's had forward controls and the sport bikes of course were toe ... for the first miles I just used the toe shift and read all those comments from people who liked the heel ... so I gave it a try and found out it's pretty nice. So now I mostly use it, still forget now and then .. adjust it to your liking and you'll probably like it.
If it is annoying, take it off..install a spacer. Put the heal shifter in your saddlebag. As happpened to me riding the Cherahola....my shifter spine stripped the teeth. I was able to pull over, remove my heal shifter and reverse it to put in place of the stripped front shifter.
If I did not have the heal shifter, I would suit there until someone canme buy and sold/loaned their "spare" lever to me.....or until I found a pair of vice grips to clamp on the shaft (probably damaging that also...).
Harley has sold a heal shifter with the HEAL part able to swing away....to make room for you feet.
