Put this in the exhaust section without response? So, my '09 EG has had crazy heat on my right foot & leg since I got it used as pretty stock pinging 96" and now 103" SE cast pistons, Andrews 54 cams, SE adjustables, stock heads with ARC, Stock non cat header, SE Fatshotz 16 disc & open caps, PCV. Fuel moto map adjusted with auto tune, then Dynoed 109tq - 99hp stock rev limit. No pinging but never 35mpg, mostly around 30?? There is no way i can keep my right foot on the footboard for long. My leg cooks!! Literally! Yes I wear boots, Kevlar jeans and chaps. I have wrapped the header with no relief? I've ridden other 103s even with cats without this heat? I wonder if an aftermarket X type ceramic coated header would get rid of the heat? Or is it really still the tune? I'd hate spending money on a header that still cooks my leg! Somehow I still believe it is the tune but since it has had the heat all along I'm looking at the stock header?
You build a Hot Rod it's going to be HOT.
I did a similar thing: 103 SE Stage IV on my 2009 and it was like yours, unbearably HOT on my right leg and foot.
I tried True Duel headers then V&Hs Power Duels (the X-Pipe one).
The True Duels were HOT and the X-Pipe did help a little.
It made 109 hp / 104 tq and got around 36 mpg.
But it was so hot I had to ride with my foot on the Highway pegs. I could not ride with my foot on the right floorboard.
I was almost relieved when it blew after 18,000 miles.
The thing is, it really isn't any/much hotter now then it was when I got it? Bummer ya never found an answer for yours! Yeah, this is the first touring bike I've put highway pegs on, just because I can't keep my foot on the board. I actually just paid for a Fullsac X-pipe from a member on the forum. Might have it next week?
