I did mine on the bike... removed the headlight complete from the fairing to get to the connector/harness for the light. Pulled the calipers, put a 9/16 socket on an extention and ran it thru the front wheel to get to the bolts. Beat the extention with a hammer to bend the locking tab out of the way so the bolts would spin out. you might have to move the bike a few inches to get at all the bolts.

It can be done, but it's tight, especially without it being on a jack so it's straight up.
Getting the fender lock bolts lock tabs undone is a bitch with wheel on.
Putting back on use the tab plates, but instead of bending them use a little dab of red
locktite.
Fender tip light wire goes through the fender, so that needs to be disconnected.
Or cut and resoldered together and heat shrinked. why did HD do it that way??
