Default How to Remove Front Fender

The manual says I must first remove the front wheel on my '03 Heritage. Is that really necessary? Can't I just remove the two bolts on both sides, disconnect the fender light, then slide the fender out?

Any help or advice would be appreciated. TIA...............

Its really hard to get out without taking the wheel off if you can even do it. Do yourself a favor and remove the wheel. My Deluxe fender flares out in the back (Heritage is probably the same) and it won't slide out from the front. It probably would slide out from the rear but the frame gets in the way.

If it's like a dresser, there are tabs that bend down and lock the bolts that hold the fender. You have to remove the wheel to get these tabs bent up so the bolts will turn.

Regards,

Bill

Tried it and it doesn't work. Like mentioned above the fender will not come out. It has to slide down the fork tubes.

From my experience, short cuts ALWAYS cost more in the end when dealing with an H-D. I have an 03 Heritage. I removed the wheel. Yes, it's a bit more work, but it's worth the effort.

You should invest in a service manual, it's really worth the money and they tell you exactly how to do it!
