Question What would you do

Don't post very often but I've been a member for years. My problem is that I could get a 2013 street glide with a monthly payment or keep my 2005 Road king classic with only 30k miles that's paid off. Is there really that big of a difference in the newer frame to justify the cost? What do you guys think?

I'd go with the new bike/frame. BUT....it's your money and investment. Only you can decide, just choose wisely.

First question is have you test driven the '13? If not, do it and see for yourself if it's worth the monthly payment. As for the frame, I know guys that traded in their 2009 for the 2010 just for the new frame...they seem to like it. Also, keep in mind that the 2013 is not just monthly payments, but mod costs that drive up the cost of the bike quickly. Not sure if I helped much, or just made your decision tougher, but good luck either way.

3 things to consider .... New frame, 6 speed trans and the 103 CI pulls much harder. You only live once

if you like your current bike, and are not experiencing bagger wobble, no need to trade. if you are doing it because of wobble, think about a brace and new bushings. plenty of fixes for about the price of one payment on a new bike. that 2013 is going to need the catalytic converter removed, a tuner for the lean condition, highway pegs, etc. to get it where you are happy. there is not much difference in an 88 inch motor and 5 speed versus a 103 and a 6 speed.

You need to ride and decide for yourself.

Here is an idea. See how much your monthly payment will be then take that money every month and put it away in a separate savings account when you feel comfortable with what you have in there for a large down payment or to even pay cash for a new one. Until then keep riding the RK at least you won't have the monthly payment to worry about if a rainy day ever comes.

Negotiate HARD, make a good deal for yourself, get all you can get, seriously consider an Ultra Classic/Limited and DO IT... Life's too short to spend it pondering/pandering/pontificating...

That's what I would do too. I hate having payments.
