Normally, I don't hope for rain when I plan on riding, but with all of the fires we have had here lately in Colorado, I would gladly take a few showers about this time.
I dont like riding in the rain but if I get caught in it while I am out and about, I put on my rain gear and slow down. The sprinkles dont bother me, its the downpours that suck, lol.
Just did a Arkansas trip weekend of the 16th which was dry and great, came home on Monday the 17th in the rain but knew it could happen so was somewhat ready for it. Last year, late spring had a vacation window and took a ride to eastern TN, N & S Carolina, stayed in Asheville, Charleston and returned thru GA, had rain all thru the trip but again was ready for it, full rain gear, newer tires, bike recently serviced and the ride was awesome. Saw many things at a different point of season than most, many attractions were thin to almost no visitors so was great for access.
Still sucks to get wet, wet shoes, wet socks, needing to dry out in a motel room and so on but still a ride.
Just prepare and make the best of it. I was doing a cross country ride this spring and hit some crazy thunderstorms that lasted from Memphis to the tip of Alabama. It took us 3x as long to ride the miles under that storm.
Thing is...I look back on it like an accomplishment. I was prepared, had gear and stayed safe. It also made me a better rider. While I don't own a car and have gotten used to the rain over the years, I still respect the storm. Just don't fear it or let it change your plans.
No time now for a new tire, had some crap going on and the trip date caught me by surprise. Not trying to save any money, will be spending plenty of it IM, I just bought a set of gaiters.
No time? Go get a new tire and stop phuking around. It's not just your life you're endangering if you're riding 2up on a bad tire... in the rain no less. Most shops will put you at the head of the line if you need a tire and are on the road traveling. Besides, you don't need that in the back of your mind while you're out having a good time.
If your boots are wet at the end of the day, take the free newspapers in the lobby or the local penny saver, u needum, whatever and pack your boots full. Wait 20 minutes and repeat until they're dry.
If your going to ride at all this year in the Northeast your going to get wet! With the exception of 2 days, its rained daily since I pulled the bike out of the garage for that first ride.
