I got two tire stories. 1) Once while going to pay my car insurance payment, I walked into the office and there leaning against the wall was a truck tire and rim. I asked the girl what's up with that?, She said the other day she just happened to look up in time to see it heading towards the plate glass window. She ran into the back as it crashed thru the window and wall. They replace the window but the tire was still sitting there. 2 ) I was behind a garbage truck that had a tire blow. Sounded like a bomb, so I'm thinking it was up to pressure. The tread flew about 50 feet in the air, and if I was closer would have landed on me.,,

This time of year with heat dont blame all of them on drivers. I take real good care of my equipment and do my pretrips. All i have to do is hit one big hole, railroad track, nail falling out of some nail pounders truck in the road and that tire on my truck is going bye bye if i dont catch it. I dont run recaps. Have to agree recaps beat the crap out of trucks and should not be on highways.
Few 500 dollar fines for carpenters, plumbers, painters and workers in general that load there trucks and dont give a damn would be nice. Put a few out of business that dont belong LOL Scrap haulers??? Yikes

Wife and I were in the cage heading into Birmingham, Al on vacation. Traffic was tight and there was a truck hauling 1/2 a modular home in the outside lane (I think he just got stuck there by the all the traffic.) Normally I'm not in any hurry to crowd a wide load, but if anyone ahead of me got into trouble I had nowhere to go, so I just went with the flow of traffic moving past him on the inside. As I get closer I see the trailer is a low deck model with 6 low slung axles running single mobile home style wheels. Just as we edge up to the first axle, the wheel three axles up wobbles and comes off, bounces up over the front corner of my car and proceeds to go bouncing through a rest stop we were passing. It all happened too fast to even flinch (and I'm damn glad I didn't!) It bounced through the rest area, over a guard rail and disappeared into the weeds without hitting a thing. A few miles later I learned that, like all other states I had visited, convenience stores in Alabama also do not sell underwear.

We have real alligators in the road in these parts. When I saw you were in Ne, I had to look at your post. Never heard the term "alligator" applied to those recaps you see all over the road. I hate those things. I've seen two of them explode off of tires lately. My *** is always a little tight when passing the big rigs.
