Beautiful ride! I love the fact that you have kept the integrity of Harley Davidson classics!
I went with Michelin Commander II tires on my 2014. I should have gone with white wall tires but Michelin does not offer them.
Enjoy your ride!
Just installed Softail Slim bars on 2010 Road King Classic. I like the riding position. Vibration is a little worse. Control of the bike is uniformly better with slightly lower bars. Rarely ride with the windshield.
Changing bars on a Harley is an ordeal! Geez.
Hey everyone! Whiskers still here and still kicking. Man...looking at this thread again - I sure miss my RKC!
So at one time we owned both the 2002 RKC and a 2014 Ultra Limited. When the UL tried to start my pants on fire I decided that I didn't like the motor, nor the heavy fairing. I test rode a 2017 Road Glide Limited and tried to buy one. Long story -short, the dealer sold the RG out from under me and I had had enough of local politics. We bought a 2018 BMW Grand America - boy, does that bike have some kind of motor! Unfortunately two things happened - we had a close call on our bike (we didn't go down or anything like that) but it made me pause and consider my mortality. And especially the fact that I could never forgive myself if my wife was ever injured. The second thing was that three people, all riders, who were associated at the hospital I was working at the time, were all killed in collisions with cars within several months of each other.
My wife asked why we weren't riding and I gave her an honest answer - I didn't feel safe any longer on the bike. We sold the BMW that same summer and don't have any bikes any longer. I do miss riding, but I miss riding when I felt safe. Our bikes were an important part of our lives but we decided there are things, such as grandkids that are a bit more important.
I just wanted to stop into my favorite bike thread of all time and say hello, wish everyone best health and safe riding. PS: I really, really miss my RKC!
So good to hear from you whiskers. I totally get what youre saying about the danger factors involved with riding motorcycles, especially in certain areas. I have lost many friends to the sport myself and as I reach my 70s, I question some time the safety factor versus the pure joy of riding. I have to tell you you have been a big inspiration to me as I got into my road king in 2009, and how I set that baby up to look similar to your bike which I totally admired. God bless you when your wife and your grandchildren and family and again so good to hear from you.
