As a newb who has been reading as much as possible while waiting for my FLHRC to be built/shipped/modified/etc., I just wanted to say how helpful the forums have been....Especially this thread. Many of the pics & discussions helped to "show me the light" as far as what I wanted to do to my bike. (Whiskers, your pics are what motivated me to get the comfort profile saddlebag bars!)
Thanks to all!
So I picked up the bike yesterday from the local dealer (who treated me very well, considering it was a military sale/delivery). Laughed almost the whole ride home; I enjoyed the bike (& the moment) so much!
Cheers,
steve

Nice Bike! Like the colors. What kind of seat?
Thanks,
Rod

The seat is from Mustang....15" Solo Seat w/ Backrest, part # 79600.
It's firm, and I like it!
(Got the matching pillion, too....11" Rear Seat, part #79356.)
The Bars ar straight out of the H-D 2010 Acc. guide (pic on bike on page 328!).
Part # 56032-08, "Fat Handlebar".
For me it was important that when I perform a slow-speed, tight turn, there would be no contact with my knee(s)....Works perfectly.
(& comfy, too!)

I thought they were the Fat handlebar. Thats what I want to go with when I get home in October. How do you like them? How's handling at slow speeds and riding twisties? Any drawbacks that you saw? And how tall are you?

Post some more pics of that great looking RKC.
I only just road the bike home on Thursday....
So:
- First off, I'm 6'1", 195 pounds. Owned only 4-cylinder crotch rockets for 20+ years. I'd ridden the entire H-D line, so I knew what I wanted, plus I've been planning (& saving) for this bike for 5 years (waiting for the right color!).
- I did a bunch of research on the bars regarding the dimensions.
- I wanted to have the accessories added prior to delivery to qualify for the factory 2 year warranty on the extras. When the dealer was assembling the bike, the mechanic called me in to set the bars & the hand controls to what I wanted & what I liked. - I'm an MSF instructor & a Rider's Edge instructor, so I wanted to be sure of the reach & clearance issues for when I'm riding the "u-turn box". Set-up went very well...And the 27 miles I rode getting my bike back was great. - The weather should be warm enough Monday for me to go to my range & practice all the floorboard dragging.....I will let you know how it goes!
.....Riding the few twisties I could get to on Thursday were great.
(I'm working very hard to stay mindful of the 3k RPM limit, as recommended for the first 50 miles!)
Handling has been excellent.
Only issue has been the rubbing on the shiny clutch cable caused by the clamp on the forks....Off to the hardware store tomorrow to get some kind of tubing to act as a shield!

Ok cool, I'm 6'2" about 240, so similiar reach and all. Can't wait until October! LOL
Your bike looks great, are you gonna do the half moon floor boards to match the passenger boards?
I have them on my bike, when I get home in March I'm putting on the older style half moon passenger floorboards that were discontinued. Just like yours, but smooth, no ribs.
MSF instructor huh, that's cool too, it's a great program.
