Default Stupid Question

I was changing my oil and I noticed 2 drain plugs @ front left and the tranny plug @ the back right.....Why is there 2 plugs side by side and what do they go too?

Don't take out the one you have to use an allen wrench on. The right one is the regular bolt looking one. I think it's a 5/8". Not sure of the purpose of the second one though.

One is the drain plug (crankase) the other is the sump drain. Don't remove the wrong one, as catastrophic results have been known to occur.

No problem just out the pipe plug back in. Make sure you find the right torque specs. There is nothing wrong with taking that plug out, in fact if you have a scavenger total oil recovery system you need to take it out. The plug you NEVER want to remove is on the bottom of the crank case.

The bottom plug is the transmission plug. The left plug with two side by side is the oil plug. The other next is ths scavenger plug. Book say's not to take out. They use it for the oil temp guage set up..

Yes, I have heard of it being used for oil temp gauge sensor before, but there is also nothing wrong with removing that plug, I remove it for my oil changes because I use a scavenger system.

The other plug I was referring to is not on the oil pan but the bottom of the crankcase that is never suppose to be removed.
