Default drain plug question

getting ready to do my first oil change. I can use a regular socket instead of an allen? This is my plug its facing towards the front on my 98. Getting ready to open it to drain and want to make sure its the oil pan plug and not transmission (dont have fluids for trans yet) Thanks!

On my 1998 Ultra, both drain plugs are 3/4 hex without any recessed allen type in them. The one in your photo is the engine oil. The transmission is on the right side and is inserted vertically. I don't believe yours is stock.

I would use the correct size socket.

Socket is way tougher so use that. Allen or Torx sockets can break or munt the splines.
