Thanks. Yeah I am not in a hurry. I did offer $9000 for the RK. But its a consignment bike and for some reason people who put their bikes on consignment believe they can get more for them. The 07 I really don't want to make an offer on. Don't like the flames and skulls. Too much money to paint it and replace stuff it If an engine has been messed with I would not take the bike either. Maybe a Stage I.Pipes, Intake Map. But no more. I agree I want to know what mods were done and have back . If they said they put a SE Cam plate in I want to see the paperwork. THAT has value to me on a pre 07 Twin cam. I learned how to work on them and yeah they are very easy with a bike lift and a few special tools. Amazingly easy. I understand that draw for many. The motor is easy to understand, Most of the more common issues can be fixed behind the primary as well as the cam performance enhancements.

I worry more about the guy who made his 88 a 103 and stopped building at the compensator. LOL

The Vic appeals to me because it's finished. 97 HP 100+ lbs of torque. If I could get that bike for $5000 and mine I would take it. Ride it for five years , sell it with $18K for $5000. The Road king Custom with 3600 miles may get $6000 or $7000 in five years, It does not seem to be a very popular bike. Very much like the XR in that its half a bagger.

I would prefer a harley but I am not going to be stupid about it. You guys know the value of these bikes better than I. Some say "Oh just buy it" That is the reason Harleys are priced so high. Too many people "just buy it" LOL.

One thing I have is time and the money in my budget. I ride a good bike and it's price is solid at $5000 and will be for awhile. Every vehicle has a bottom stop and breathing room. When I find the bike I want i will buy it and sell mine for $5000. That's the best way to do it. Try not to trade.

That is what I plan to do and did before all this rain started. Was running up to Cyclemax in NC when I got turned around. Stopped at Beach Harley (EXCELLENT) Very nice guys. No Kool-Aid just good people selling bikes not a "lifestyle" Pleasant surprise from MB Harley.

That RK is more my style (minus the lace wheels. One of the major reasons I prefer the Custom). Wonder what the mileage is. I am guessing well above 20K ...Will call them today. Thanks for the heads up.

I know somw will say 20K is nothing. And it would not be IF it did not have spring cam tensioners. That is a sticking point with me becasue that is an expensive upgrade. IF I had to do that (and I would automatically on any pre 07 with more than 15K I would put in the SE Cam Plate with the Hi Cap Oil pump and hyro Tensioners, as well. Peace of mind if nothing else. Those spring cams imo are a time bomb. Never know which bike will need them at 15K or 25K. Not worth waiting to see IMO.

Absolutely nothing wrong with that deal, you could probably get them down a bit more if you try. I just bought my 2005 last fall with around 5500 miles on it for $11,500 (probably could have got it for less but the wife made the deal while I was test riding). I can't say enough about how great this bike is. Handling, ride...etc. it is great.

Looks like the same bike...I think yours is a more "subdued" red though and carbed? (Do I see a choke?) Much nicer color. LOL The bike just looks great and rode great. Didn't care for the idle shake though. Not used to that.

This is the same deal on an EFI....but with a consignment middleman, MB Harley would be asking $13999 for it LOL, Low miles Not a flaw on the bike. Great for my needs. Local commuting and errands with occasional 200 mile RT runs to Charleston and NC.

My problem is the Yamaha. I don't want to give it up too cheap. It's a good bike. I don;t have to sell it if I found a kick *** deal (Like if they offered the RK for $9999. I would buy the RK and put my bike there on consignment and give them anything over $5800.

They are going to put a new back tire on the Yamaha, check the valves, Drop in some progressive springs I had lying around. Maybe they will step up on it. I wish I could find out who owned the RK and make a direct offer, LOL. Well that wouldn't be ethical though. I will let the bike sit. They had an 06 Fat Boy 7600 miles Stage I kit. bags Shield,Lace wheels, sat for 8 months at $11,000 The owner finally came and picked it up. Maybe the RK owner will do the same and put it on CL. I am thinking the dealer is putting too much on top. They just opened and cannot institute a flooring plan yet, so they are making their nut in service some accessories and Consignment bikes.

I have been all over the map since starting this trek to a differnt bike. Sportsters, Dynas, That Fat Boy.... and settled on the HD RK Custom or a Victory XR. Nothing else appeals to me.

Ya it's a great bike, no Carb. The color is called lava red sunglo it looks more burgundy than the picture of the one your looking at. The "Shake" isn't that bad and once your moving it all goes away. It really does ride and handle great.

Sounds like you may leaning towards a Crossroads. The Victory CORE baggers are very good bikes. They are powerful, reliable and maintenance costs are generally much lower than the HD. However, shortcomings include transmission experience (reliability ok), hideous headlight, fit and finish. I would add that wind management with a shield is not so good, but you're comparing to an RK so it's on par with that standard. Resale on the X bikes has been pretty good, so I wouldn't worry about that too much.

Only because its a very good deal on an $17K bike two years ago new, That CORE has expensive accessories. Base price was about $15K. Major depreciation hit is gone and its still "new" with an ESC out to 2016. As well it's as reliable as a metric. Simple things are not costly to fix. But its still more of a lateral move and still won't hold the value or be as desirable as a low mileage HD in a few years when I again need a new drug. Although I do agree he Custom like the XR are both "half baggers" people in those markets prefer that car like dashboard faring on the full baggers. I don't.

I want to buy a bike I won't spend major money on making it mine. learned my lesson with the Yamaha. Let someone else take that hit.
