http://www.grandstrandcycles.com/harley-davidson.html
Last One on the bottom

They have offered a deal including my bike pic below 07 Yamaha V Star 1300 w/$4k accessories and mods

$6400 Plus my bike OTD

Reservations
Original Tires on a 9 year old bike?
Miles too low...Shrinking seals?

Been looking for a RK Custom or Victory XR

Have the same deal on this XR
http://www.cyclemax.biz/default.asp?...eps=&fueltype=

I think the RK will hold value better. I do about 3000-4000 a year and its my daily driver year round weather permitting.

I have not found a deal close to it nationally but the age of the still bike concerns me. Should it? Is the XR a better value given the year and additional performance ad that I am used to metrics?

All Comments Welcome no matter how nasty

IMHO,if you pay their asking price, you will make the previous owner and the consignment shop owner very happy.Even with the low miles, you are talking about a 9 plus year old bike. You would be better off to shop around for a 2009 or newer with the new frame and also includes the 96 cu.inch engine and a 6 speed trans. for about the same money from a private owner even if it has higher milage. And yes, your concerns about the seals and tires are right. So add 5 to 600 dollars for new tires and now you have over 12,000 in a 2004 Road King.Again, just my opinion from past experience.

Thats what I was afraid of.....Actually it's 9 years old but still a concern.

Thanks.

I think that sounds like a fair deal. That's essentially a new bike, and I wouldn't be worried about it, as the 88 was pretty well refined by 2004.

Tires should be replaced if they are hardening, cracking, or worn. If they were on a car, I'd have no problems running them if they looked ok, but being on a bike I might have second thoughts. That said, I'm still running my 2003 tires with 6,000 miles. I keep telling myself that I need to replace them, but never get around to it. Maybe next year.

You might have some seals that need to be replaced. I had a fork seal replaced under warranty when I got mine, but the rest of the bike has been fine after being "awakened" from a 10-year sleep. (It had 900 miles on it up until 2 years ago.)

As for holding it's value, the RK will be so far ahead of the Victory that you can't even compare resales with a straight face. I'm far from a Harley koolaid drinker, so I'll advise you to test ride a Vic and see if it's the bike for you before you purchase. I'm very happy with my RK, but you might prefer the other route.

That is way too much money for a 04 Road King Custom. You should be paying in the $9500 range for that bike. The custom's seem to sit for a while before they sell. They aren't as desirable as the Classics or the standards.

Well, as you can see, opinions vary, sounds like a fair deal to me, although I prefer the RK Classic or Standard.

That's alot of money.

no dealer, no finance, no trade puts you in better control of how the deal goes.

sell your bike on the open market, find a good deal on the market

That's a good thing. That's where consensus rules the day. Since I am buying without any warranty on the HD (Vic comes with ESC to 2016) I thought I would ask.

The 2011 XR is a very nice bike. and that rack alone is $1000. and engine bars (another $1000 purchased separately) It is the core model that has the upgraded bags VIC branded accessories are expensive.

Just found THIS

http://www.cycletrader.com/listing/2...lhrs-110338187

Doesn't look like a Custom...No Wind deflector and Spokes...

Should I offer $11,000 and risk getting beat up? I hate Skulls. They are so Stereotypical and spokes....ugh.

If you like the bike, just buy it! I have an 05 RK, and would never trade it, or buy
a new one.

Yeah I just don;t care for white walls or spokes. Ca't plug spokes and I don;t have a toothbrush or Q Tips in my wash locker......

THIS 07 has all the stereo types Flames, Skulls, If it were not for all that and the spokes I would be on my way to see it. Want 13K 4000 miles
