Default Klockwerks Windshield Height

Any riders 6'1" + using the 8.5" Klockwerks ? I am wondering if the KW has more air lift than the longrideshields.

My main concerns are bugs and rain hitting me in the forehead.

I just ordered a 10" Longride windshield and it shipped out today. They recommended that I purchase the 10" since that it what I am running now (stock) and it lines up right under my nose. I need the air blown over me another 2" so instead of getting the HD 12-13", I am going to try out this one.

The question I have is this. I just now came across a Klockwerks 8.5" for a good price and I can't find anywhere online where it states how much of the air is lifted upwards. Should I get this screaming deal or would I still be looking for more height.

im 6 ft,have the 8.5 klockwerks shield love it,but i have had big bugs hit me in the forehead.the wind just goes over the top of my helmet.a lot depends if you have a tall torso or short.i am about average torso height.if i was an inch taller i believe it would be shaking my helmet.so good luck, some will love it ,others will hate it.

5-11 and have the 8.5. As was stated, a industrial sized grasshopper or whatever is not going to get magically thrown over your head. As far as rain...if it is raining steady you are going to have that to contend with. It doesn't magically stop that either. Fact is that the recurve will cause runoff to filter over towards the sides and spray on you...albeit not as hard as being hit directly...but you are going to get wet.

I am 6.2 and demoed the 8.5 KW and found the lip to be right in my line of sight. Which is strange because my bike is stock and it seems there are shorter guys here that see over with no issue...........

I'm 6'2" and have a 12" on a Roadglide. I went to the Myrtle Beach Bike rally 2012 and Kurkykian had a tent that would let you try out the windshields. I first tried the 8", it did look better but the wind hit me right about eye level. With the 12" it now hits me right about the top of my head. I am riding with a backrest and that does make a difference. Without a backrest you tend to slouch a bit and sit lower.

I am 6'2 and I did a demo of both the 6.5 and the 8.5 last week... I did not like the 8.5 inch shield. This is taken from my review... obviously it is my .02, and others will feel differently:

"Saturday morning I swapped the 6.5 for the 8.5 figuring the 8.5 might improve the areas the 6.5 was lacking. Much to my surprise, the 8.5 was intolerable at best. On the backroads and the highway I had wind hitting me from all directions behind the windshield and fairing. Head buffeting was at its highest I’ve ever experienced, making the ride increasingly more uncomfortable. As an aside, for those riders that utilize the 3 pouch windshield bags, the Flare 8.5 is designed to accomodate them."
