The factory should be recalling this Throttle By Wire problem. If we all know a couple of people this has happened to, how many failures is that?
Seems obvious the factory knows there is a problem in this area, why else would the throttle body have a five year warranty on the emissions side of things. As for a recall, while those of us having a problem with the TBW would be in favor of that course, I am sure the bean counters are still gambling we will remain the exception and not the rule so they will hedge as long as they can.

Are actual deaths and injuries required to get a mandatory safety recall initiated? (That sounds like sarcasm, but I seriously would like to know what it takes.)
Mine went out on a quiet 2-lane highway with no traffic at all, and I could get over to the side of the road without any danger. If it had gone out on I-26, I-85, or I-20, that would not have been the case.

Again I agree but until one goes into limp and someone gets hurt and sues MOCO and they lose nothing is likely to change. What indicates to me that this seems to be their mode of operation is the fact that bikes in the 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and maybe even 2013 model years all seem to be experiencing similar problems. Even though the throttle body seems to be a -11 variation seeming to indicate updated equipment, the problem still seems to exist across the board.
Update so far is I had codes P1510 &P2138. Cleared both and had the check engine come on two more times. I will probably call the dealer and they owe me a free state inspection so I will tell them about the problem and see where it goes.
Well I got a call Friday that they had finished my bike and it is ready for pickup when I get back to town later today. They ended up replacing the throttle body and the tech rode the bike for 30 miles or so with no codes so now I get to pick it up and see what results I get. No mention of any wiring issues so it will be interesting if the problem is completely resolved of more fun to follow? Time will tell...
Had similar problems, and codes, ended up being wireing between gooseneck and fairing shorting/grounding. they replaced everything trying to fix it. till I mentioned a post on these forums, got frowned on. but when I picked up my bike it had an ugly looking splice in the wireing. search my previous thread for the whole story
I had the same problem with my 2010 FLHTC after 21K. Made an appointment with the dealer to have it fixed and when I was leaving spoke with the service manager about it. He said to pull the connection from the left side of carb behind air filter. Clean the pins and apply dialectic grease to the plug. Took me all of 5 minutes and the problem has never happened again. Rode up to dealer and thanked him for the fix.
Same problem on my 2010 Ultra and the dealer repaired it no cost. He told me it is a wiring problem from the ecu to the Throttle Body but wouldn't tell me more. They fixed it within a couple of hours of dropping it off.

Too bad dealers don't seem to talk to each other. While some dealers seem all over this, others seem to have never heard of it. My bike is waiting it's turn for a tech to work it into their schedule. Hope it doesn't take them too long to sort it out.
My bike did the same thing when it was new, it went into limp mode. Ended up being the connector behind the air cleaner (fretting) and the twist grip sensor. Has not done it since. Dealer will T/S and fix it.
same thing with me,,check all your connectors,, i rode in limp mode for 30 miles through nashville, tn to get home only to find a loose connector.
I own a 2009 Street Glide and have ahd this happen twice. Throttle goes into limp mode, safe mode or scarry mode depending on what you want to call this. It is a safety issue lucky both times it was not in extreme traffic or on the freeway. I coasted over waited a bit and then i had throttle control again.
