I put Redline Shockproof in my Baker OD6 when I installed it 3 years ago.
Lately, the transmission had been sounding a little noisier than before.
I replaced the trans fluid with Shockproof from the same bottle that I used originally 3 years ago and I can't believe how quiet it runs now.
So, whatever the magic voodoo stuff that redline puts in the shockproof, it does wear out or just go away.
BTW, I had about 24000 miles on the oil when I drained it.

I like Redline just fine, but some of the praises I've heard seem overstated. Certainly better than Formula +, way better than Syn 3, about the same as Amsoil for me.

I chose it over Amsoil simply because it was easier to check the level with the reddish color. Otherwise a push for me.

Prefer Amsoil in the primary though, clutch feels smoother to me.

A number of guys have posted that RL Primary oil resulted in slippage for them, (not so for me), and they've reverted to Formula + in the primary. My impression too is that Amsoil is excellent product, but I don't support MLM schemes if there's an alternative. There's an alternative. Comparisons between esters (RL) and PAO's (everyone else) make for interesting reading, if one is interested in reading.

Hmm, I've again noticed the OP lives in NH so maybe the ester vs PAO topic deserves some attention. Everyone in northern climates should know better than to periodically start and run their engines during the course of cold winter storage. The practice encourages condensation and hydrolysis (acid formation). Ester based oils carry many unique benefits but one detraction is that it is somewhat more susceptible to hydrolysis than a PAO typically is. Ergo, if one is convinced there is some esoteric merit in mid winter starts then maybe a PAO synthetic would be a better choice for them. If you leave things alone till spring when you can hop on and ride for an hour after startup,, no issues. Just something to know IMHO.

The clunk happens because the clutch is still spinning. The trans input shaft is spinning and therfore when you put it in gear it clunks. I know many people poopoo the idea of using ATF in the primary, but I am currently running Mobil1 ATF in the primary and rarely get a clunk. Just sayin'

I should also state that I have no idea if another ATF will act the same or differently than Mobil1, but Mobil1 is what I tried.
